CLEMENTS SCOUT RANCH
Camp Cherokee & Camp Meisenbach

Camp Cherokee and Camp Meisenbach are located on the magnificent 3,300 acre Clement Scout Ranch near Athens, Texas. A total of four major lakes contribute to make this a true outdoorman’s paradise. Soft rolling hills covered with oak, hickory and pine trees provide favorable natural habitat for the various wildlife to be found on the property. Bobcat, fox, opossum, raccoon, skunk, muskrat and rabbit can be found at various points on the property.

Camp Cherokee contains:

  • 9 weekend sites with two pavilions
  • 19 summer sites with two pavilions
  • Dining Hall, Headquarters, Staff Lounge
  • Nature Area with deer, bobcat pens, beehive and nature trail
  • Pool available in late spring and summer for unit swims using Safe Swim Defense Plan (user fee 50 cents per person per day).
  • Rifle Range - N.R.A. Instructor required for use).
  • Target Archery and Field Archery Ranges Certified.
  • Perryman Lake - 30 acres, stocked with bass, crappie and catfish
  • Allen Lake - 3 acres, catfish fishing.
  • McElvancey - 18 Acres, rowboats and canoes, old swim hole (Blob) and Troop swim beach, stocked with bass.
  • Rowing and canoeing, must follow Safety Afloat Plan.
  • Picnic Area
  • Weekend Horse Rides (nominal cost per person)

  • New 20 Mile wildlife Trail

Camp Meisenbach Contains:

  • 8 Weekend sites with two pavilions
  • Murchison Lake - 180 acres of great fishing (bass, crappie, blue gill).
  • Boating and Canoeing
  • Governor’s Trail (around Murchison Lake, 5 miles).

 

DIRECTIONS:

From Athens, go South on State Highway (SH) 19 for 3.4 miles, turn right on Farm-to-Market (FM) 753 and travel 3.9 miles. Turn left on (FM) 2970 and travel 2.4 miles until you come to the ranch entrance. The Clements Scout Ranch is about 98 miles southeast of Dallas from the Circle Ten Council Service Center.
