TVD Calendar 2007-2008

News from the Sherman Scoutfitter

Sherman Circle 10 Scoutfitter will be closed from July 21, 2008 until August 2, 2008.  If you have any scouting needs please make arrangements to take care of them prior to these dates.

cublogo.gif (3307 bytes) Cub Scout Camping Policies

Cub scout Camping Policies have been the source of much confusion for Scouters and Staff.  The confusion seems to come from what we call the boys involved in the Cub Scout Programs as well as fair amount of self imposed limitations.  Please see the memo from Russell Etzenhouser, Director of Camping Services with BSA for more details.

cublogo.gif (3307 bytes)ATTENTION:  IMPORTANT RECALL INFORMATION

The Boy Scouts of America has issued a recall notice for the immediate Recognition kit, Item No. 01804.

Following is an excerpt from the letter to the Boy Scouts of America from Kahoots, the vendor for the Immediate Recognition Kit:

"We have been advised that product safety testing for the Cub Scout Immediate Recognition Kit, Item #0184, that we supply to the Boy Scouts of America may contain lead levels in excess of U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission standards in the paint on one component of the kit, the totem badge.

In light of this development we have decided to initiate a voluntary recall of the product and have instructed our counsel to move forward with the voluntary recall without delay."

The BSA is requesting anyone who may have purchased the item to remove the Cub Scout Recognition totem badge from their children's possession and exchange it at your local scoutfitter beginning December 1, 2007 and register to win one of three Mongoose BMX bikes.  For additional information call Kahoot at: 1-888-800-4717 or visit www.kahoot.com .

stayinformed.gif (3237 bytes)Roundtable

Roundtable secret Phrase

When was the last time your unit was represented at Roundtable?

In order to effectively communicate with all of our units we really need one person from each unit in attendance.  Many of the people who now attend are there to share info with the rest of the district.  We need unit representatives, in attendance, to take the info back to all the units of Texoma Valley.  This web site should not take the place of Roundtable attendance.   Please support your district roundtable staff and try to be there.  Many exciting events and guests are planned for the future.

No Roundtable in June, July, or August.
